Director Yann Demange Confirms ‘BLADE’ Will Be Rated-R

Fans of Marvel’s upcoming BLADEmovie can rejoice as director Yann Demange has confirmed that the film will be rated-R. This is a significant departure from the studio’s usual PG-13 fare, but it is a decision that Demange believes is essential to capturing the essence of the character.

Marvel’s ‘BLADE’ Gets the Green Light for an R-Rating

“They gave me the R, which is so important,” Demange said. “We are going to have fun because Mahershala is such a deep actor. I’m excited to show a kind of ruthlessness, a roughness he has, that allows him to walk the earth in a particular way.”

The R-rating will allow Demange to explore the darker aspects of Blade’s world, including the violence and gore that are inherent in his fight against vampires. It will also give him the freedom to create a more mature and nuanced portrayal of the character.

“I think it’s important to be able to show the world of Blade in a way that is authentic to the character and the comics,” Demange said. “The R-rating will allow us to do that.”

Marvel Studios has also hired ‘LOGAN’ and ‘BLADE RUNNER 2049’ writer Michael Green to work on a new script for the film. Green is a talented writer with a proven track record of success in the genre, and his involvement is a positive sign for the project.

The budget for ‘BLADE’ is expected to be less than $100 million, which is relatively low for a Marvel Studios film. This suggests that the studio is confident in the project and believes it can succeed without a massive budget.

With Demange at the helm and Green on the script, ‘BLADE’ is shaping up to be a dark, gritty, and action-packed superhero movie that will satisfy fans of the character and genre alike.
