However, it’s unlikely that we’ll ever see a Nightmare Before Christmas 2. Director Henry Selick and producer Tim Burton have both said that they’re not interested in making a sequel, and for good reason.

The original film is perfect. It’s a self-contained story with a satisfying ending. There’s no need to add to it or try to recapture the magic.

As Burton himself said, “It’s a perfect movie [that] came out of the perfect timeā€¦ why mess with that?”

Instead of making a sequel, Selick and Burton have focused on other projects. Selick directed Coraline and Paranorman, two more critically acclaimed stop-motion films. Burton has directed Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo, and other live-action films.

While fans may be disappointed that we’ll never see a Nightmare Before Christmas 2, there’s still plenty to enjoy about the original film. It’s a timeless classic that can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages.

And who knows? Maybe one day Selick and Burton will change their minds. But until then, we can be grateful for the perfect movie that they did create.
