Actor Zac Efron has said that he would be “honored” to play the late Matthew Perry in a biopic about his life. Perry reportedly expressed his desire to have Efron portray him in the film before his death in October 2023.

“I’m honored to hear he was thinking of me to play him,” Efron told People magazine. “We’ll see. I’d be honored to do it.”
Efron and Perry previously worked together on the 2009 comedy film “17 Again,” in which Efron played a younger version of Perry’s character. Efron has spoken fondly of Perry on several occasions, calling him a “mentor” and a “great guy.”
In a recent interview with ExtraTV, Efron said that he is “still devastated” by Perry’s death. He also said that he would be “extraordinary” to play Perry in a biopic.
“He was such a talented actor and comedian,” Efron said. “He brought so much joy to people. It would be an honor to tell his story.”
It is not yet clear if a biopic about Matthew Perry is in development. However, Efron’s comments suggest that he is interested in playing the role.
